{"id":357,"date":"2016-10-04T17:11:32","date_gmt":"2016-10-04T16:11:32","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/templeman-exhibitions\/?p=357"},"modified":"2019-12-11T13:17:35","modified_gmt":"2019-12-11T13:17:35","slug":"saint-omer-and-the-british-army-1914-1918","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/templeman-exhibitions\/2016\/10\/04\/saint-omer-and-the-british-army-1914-1918\/","title":{"rendered":"Saint-Omer and the British Army, 1914-1918"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>9 January \u2013 3 March 2017<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Curated by Terence Hughes and Suzie Bridges<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The General Headquarters (GHQ) of the British Expeditionary Force was based at Saint-Omer during World War One and as the HQ of the Royal Flying Corps the small Pas-de-Calais town became the centre of British air power in France.\u00a0<em>&#8216;Saint-Omer and the British Army, 1914-1918&#8217;<\/em>\u00a0will demonstrate the impact of World War One on Saint-Omer during occupation. The exhibition, whose displays are in both French and English, will be loaned to the University of Kent University for display in the Templeman Gallery during January 2017.
