{"id":201,"date":"2023-06-01T12:52:35","date_gmt":"2023-06-01T11:52:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/technicians\/?p=201"},"modified":"2023-06-01T12:54:13","modified_gmt":"2023-06-01T11:54:13","slug":"technician-nominated-for-a-kent-union-above-and-beyond-award","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/technicians\/2023\/06\/01\/technician-nominated-for-a-kent-union-above-and-beyond-award\/","title":{"rendered":"Technician Nominated for a Kent Union Above and Beyond Award"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"lead\">Mark Vogle (right) pictured with colleagues at the Kent Union Above and Beyond Awards<\/p>\n<p>Mark Vogle, an Engineering Technician from the CEMS Division, was nominated for an <a href=\"https:\/\/kentunion.co.uk\/news\/article\/above-and-beyond-awards-winners#:~:text=The%20Above%20and%20Beyond%20Awards,of%20staff%20and%20Student%20Reps.\">Above and Beyond Award<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Mark was nominated for the category of &#8216;Excellent Personal Tutoring&#8217; by going the &#8216;extra mile&#8217; to ensure that students he has worked with were supported. I asked Mark to tell me a little more about the awards and his nomination. This is what he had to say:<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"ui-provider gs b c d e f g h i j k l m n o p q r s t u v w x y z ab ac ae af ag ah ai aj ak\" dir=\"ltr\">&#8220;When I received the nomination I was honestly shocked but pleasantly surprised. What a great feeling to be recognised for the work I do and support I give. Personally I take time to talk to the students and encourage them to use our excellent mechanical facility to the full and to experience a range of different manufacturing techniques. The Awards evening was at the venue on campus. It was a great evening with many people in attendance. The hosts were fantastic especially the President and Vice president when parts of the presentation had a few small &#8216;blips&#8217; (Dropping paper scripts) which made the evening entertaining. Being recognised in this way has made me very proud. I will continue to be myself because I am obviously doing something good. I will continue to support and encourage all the students in the same personable manner so that they gain more skills in a safe but enjoyable area.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Congratulations for the nomination Mark!
