The SynTeach project is organizing a roundtable discussion (“fishbowl” format) on possible resources for syntax teaching, to be held immediately before NELS 57 (CUNY Graduate Center, 16–18 October 2026). We will discuss questions like:

  • What resources or guidance do you think would be helpful for improving syntax teaching?
  • Is there specific training you think junior teachers would find helpful?
  • How could we ensure that syntax is taught more inclusively?
  • If you’re interested in the Discovery Method, what materials or resources would help you get started?
Anyone interested in this topic, whatever your area of research or your career stage, is welcome to join. The roundtable will take place in person the day before NELS begins on Thursday October 15 at 4:15pm (EDT).
Please fill out this form if you are planning to attend (or think you will, but aren’t 100% certain yet), or if you would like to receive updates and information about the discussion (including a report afterwards) even if you can’t attend.
