Robust data that explores strategies and activities to improve student attendance and attainment will always be welcomed within the HE environment, and the University of Kent\u2019s Student Success (EDI) department has recently published a paper that focuses on this aspect of research.<\/p>\n
The new paper Student Success Evaluation Framework: Determining causality in activities to improve attendance and attainment<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0is authored by Dr Ellen Dowie (Data and Evaluation Manager, Student Success (EDI)) and Dr Alexandra De La Torre (Evaluation Consultant, Student Success (EDI)).<\/p>\n The research draws on the causal links between student-based interventions and improved outcomes and seminar\/lecture attendance.\u00a0 It also helps identify the relevant activities that create impact in a positive way.<\/p>\n Developed over a number of years, the Student Success Evaluation Framework is informed by the Theory of Change approach to programme planning and evaluation.<\/p>\n Ellen Dowie explains, “The results outlined in this new paper will help assess the level of impact of the Student Success interventions on students\u2019 attendance and attainment, ultimately providing a tool and road map for academic schools and divisions to fine tune and prioritise their activities moving forward.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 This type of published research also helps the University of Kent provide evidence of impact on our Access and Participation Plan (APP) through evaluation \u2013 something which is now even more important\u00a0 in order to meet our institutional Office for Students’ targets”.<\/p>\n To access the paper, please follow the link above.<\/p>\n For further information, please contact:<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n Ellen Dowie, Data and Evaluation Manager: e.dowie@kent.ac.uk<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
