{"id":853,"date":"2019-09-02T12:21:59","date_gmt":"2019-09-02T11:21:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/sspssremployability\/?p=853"},"modified":"2019-09-02T12:21:59","modified_gmt":"2019-09-02T11:21:59","slug":"courses-offered-by-the-centre-for-english-and-world-languages","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/studentexperience\/2019\/09\/02\/courses-offered-by-the-centre-for-english-and-world-languages\/","title":{"rendered":"Courses offered by the Centre for English and World Languages!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Centre for English and World Languages have a variety of courses on offer over the next year for both students and staff which could greatly improve your employability!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>The following modules and courses are running in 2019\/20:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/cewl\/courses\/in-sessional\/elas.html\">English Language and Academic Skills<\/a> (ELAS): in-sessional workshops and individual writing and reading tutorials, which provide additional training in English for Academic Purposes to all international students. The workshops are completely free \u2013 students can sign up for the modules via Workshops in SDS or book an appointment for the tutorials via Target Connect.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Credit-bearing <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/cewl\/courses\/world\/world-lang-modules.html\">World Language modules<\/a> are wild modules in Arabic, Japanese, Mandarin and Russian. Available to all undergraduate students to support study abroad, their own interest and future employability.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/cewl\/courses\/world\/language-express\/index.html\">Language Express<\/a>: friendly, assessment-free evening classes in Arabic, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Mandarin, Spanish and Russian (Canterbury) French or Japanese (Medway). Open to all students (and staff).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/cewl\/courses\/british_sign_language.html\">British Sign Language<\/a> Level 1 and 2 certificated courses accredited by Signature. Open to all students (and staff).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/cewl\/courses\/celta\/index.html\">CELTA<\/a> (Cambridge Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages): an internationally recognised qualification to teach English as a foreign language and the gold standard for EFL teaching. We run a full-time intensive course from 15 June-16 July 2020.
