Then you could be who we are looking for!<\/p>\n<p>Volunteering with Medway Youth Offending Service could enable you to make a valuable contribution to your local community, have an opportunity to make your community safer, obtain satisfaction in ensuring that victims are listened to and be able to make a difference to a young person\u2019s life.<\/p>\n<p>Volunteering as a Community Panel Member provides volunteers with an opportunity to meet with young people subject to a Referral Order to devise and agree a programme of work which enables the young person to repair the harm that has been caused by their offending and help them to avoid reoffending in the future.<\/p>\n<p>Volunteers need to be over 18 years of age and have patience; good judgement; objectivity; commitment; reliability; good communication skills, be good listeners and be able to relate well to young people.\u00a0\u00a0 A non-judgemental approach is essential as is a firm commitment to discretion and confidentiality.<\/p>\n<p>Selection criteria for Panel Members are based on personal qualities rather than professional qualifications or experience. No previous experience or knowledge of the youth justice system is required.<\/p>\n<p>Panel volunteers will need to provide references and undertake an Enhanced DBS check.
