She is a Kent Alumna graduating in 2017 having studied LLB Law and French Law. Rachel is dedicated to helping those with a dream of becoming a Barrister to enter the profession, especially encouraging those from less traditional backgrounds to \u201cfight the fear\u201d and apply anyway.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px\">Her talk \u201cHow to Get Pupillage\u201d will cover everything from paper applications to final round interviews, drawing on her experiences during her three-year struggle to acquire pupillage where she attended over 50 interviews. This is an informal talk about the experiences of a law alumnus and a history alumnus who both have policing roles with the Metropolitan police and the military police at the same time! \u00a0Who should attend?\u00a0 Anyone interested in career pathways in policing and law enforcement.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px\"><strong>Jamie Gordon<\/strong>\u00a0is a serving Chief Inspector within the Metropolitan Police. He works as the Headquarters Chief Inspector in South Area, covering the London Boroughs of Croydon. Bromley and Sutton having recently moved from the Directorate of Professional Standards, the organisation\u2019s Internal Affairs function investigating and prosecuting police officers and staff whose actions fall below the standards expected. He has previously worked in Child Sexual Exploitation, Public Order and Intelligence roles within the Met. Jamie is also a Major in the Army Reserve and he commands a company of Military Police Officers based in South London. Jamie is alumni of KLS\/UKC having read for a Law Degree at the University. He is currently studying for a Master\u2019s Degree in Applied Criminology and Police Management at the University of Cambridge as part of the National Police Executive Program.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px\"><strong>Jon Roberts<\/strong>\u00a0is a Detective Sergeant within the Met\u2019s Specialist Crime Command where he works as a supervisor on the Central Specialist Drugs Team. His role is focused on tackling the supply of illegal drugs within the capital. Jon has previously worked in a variety of investigative and front line roles. Jon is also a Major within the Army Reserve and is cap badged to the Military Police. Jon is currently posted to the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, where he works as a Young Officer Development Advisor for London District\u00a0 and is part of the team selecting and shaping the Army\u2019s next generation of leaders. He has held a number of posts at regimental level and has also served on operations in Helmand Province, Afghanistan.
