The University of Kent is committed to cultivating and strengthening\u00a0a culture of consent in our community, and we can\u2019t wait to launch\u00a0our sex-positive consent campaign\u00a0on Wednesday 9<\/span>th<\/span>\u00a0February:\u00a0Celebrating Consent\u00a0Day!\u00a0Everyone is welcome to attend, learn, and participate.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Join us in Darwin Conference Suite\u00a0from\u00a01pm for an afternoon\u00a0of\u00a0interactive and engaging sessions.\u00a0Get your\u00a0free\u00a0tickets via\u202f<\/span>Eventbrite<\/span><\/a>\u202fwhere you\u00a0can\u00a0book tickets for as many or as few sessions as\u00a0you would\u00a0like!<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

13:00-14:00 The World of Online Dating: find your perfect partner and stay safe<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

We are starting our afternoon with a workshop on\u00a0<\/span>online\u00a0dating<\/span><\/b>. METRO and Protection Against Stalking (PAS) will be telling us about\u00a0how to stay safe in\u00a0the online dating world,\u00a0and\u00a0how to create a profile\u00a0and enjoy getting know people.\u00a0<\/span>This is for\u00a0<\/span>everyone!\u00a0<\/span><\/b>Whatever your gender, sexuality, age or current dating status, there will be intel for you\u00a0to reflect on navigating digital spaces and your online identity.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

14:15-15:15 Sex & Empowerment with Ruby Rare<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

For the second session we will be joined by Ruby Rare,\u00a0a\u00a0<\/span>sex-educator<\/span><\/b>, artist, and body-positive champion. She’s on a mission to engage people of all ages in positive conversations about\u00a0sex\u00a0and pleasure. Her work is influenced by her experiences as a queer, non-monogamous, dual-heritage person. She has recently launched the podcast\u00a0<\/span>In Touch<\/span><\/i>\u00a0and is the author of ‘Sex Ed: A Guide for Adults’.\u00a0You can expect a talk that moves away from the typical heteronormative sex-ed and addresses the ways in which we can\u00a0<\/span>tackle the stigmas around consent education<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span>and put pleasure first.<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Ruby is\u00a0a proud ambassador for Brook, the UK\u2019s leading sexual health charity for young people,\u00a0co-founder of life drawing collective<\/span>\u202f<\/span>Body Love Sketch Club<\/span><\/a>,\u202fand has spoken at<\/span>\u202f<\/span>TedXLondon<\/span><\/a>,<\/span>\u202f<\/span>Women of the World Festival<\/span><\/a>,<\/span>\u202fand on\u202f<\/span>BBC Woman’s Hour<\/span><\/a>.\u202fShe is\u00a0listed as one of 24 figures making a positive change to social media in Cosmopolitan’s 2021\u00a0<\/span>Positivity Index<\/span><\/a>.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

15:30-17:00 Crafting Consent: a collaborative artwork<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span>Our final session invites\u00a0all\u00a0participants to reflect on sex-positivity,\u00a0empowerment,\u00a0and consent by\u00a0making\u00a0a\u00a0contribution\u00a0to\u00a0our community\u00a0artwork. We\u00a0will\u00a0be\u00a0providing\u00a0all the materials you need and food to fuel your inner artist!\u00a0<\/span>Stick around for a chat with our speakers and each other, have time to discuss your ideas and responses while we create a lasting memento of this snapshot in time of Kent\u2019s journey to a more inclusive sex-positive culture.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
