Not happy with your current room? Don\u2019t worry – there are options available. This guide walks you through what you can do next, including how to apply for a room move or swap.<\/p>\n

Thinking about changing rooms?<\/span><\/div>\n

There can be many reasons why you might want to change rooms after settling in \u2014 from financial circumstances to personal preferences. We want everyone living on campus to enjoy their experience as much as possible. While many students are happy where they are, we know that some may find their current room or living situation isn\u2019t quite the right fit. That\u2019s why we offer a\u00a0room move and room swap programme<\/strong>, which opens from\u00a0November onwards<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Why November?<\/h3>\n

Good question! We ask students to wait until November to give everyone a chance to settle in and find their feet at university. Living with new people \u2013 often for the first time \u2013 can take some adjustment as you get to know each other and build a comfortable routine.<\/p>\n

That said, if you\u2019re struggling with ongoing issues that haven\u2019t been resolved \u2013 such as noise, cleanliness, or general flat dynamics \u2013 our\u00a0Student Support and Wellbeing Team<\/strong>\u00a0is here to help. They have lots of experience supporting students through these kinds of situations and can even arrange flat or house meetings as a neutral third party.<\/p>\n

And of course, if you have a\u00a0pressing reason to move<\/strong>\u00a0(for example, a medical need), you can contact either the\u00a0Student Support and Wellbeing Team<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0or the\u00a0Accommodation Office<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0to discuss your options.<\/p>\n

We want our students living on campus to enjoy their experience as much as possible, and while many of you will be happy with the room you\u2019re living in there will be some of you who are not. This is why we facilitate a room move or room swap programme from November onwards.<\/p>\n

What you need to know about room moves and swaps:<\/h3>\n

What\u2019s the difference between a room move and a room swap?<\/strong>
A\u00a0room move<\/strong>\u00a0happens when there\u2019s an empty room available that we can move you into.
A\u00a0room swap<\/strong>\u00a0is a direct exchange between two students currently living on campus.<\/p>\n

We help match and manage both\u00a0room moves<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0room swaps<\/strong>\u00a0through our\u00a0online room move form<\/strong><\/a>, from 9.30am on 3 November 2025<\/strong>. The form is quick and easy to complete \u2013 just follow the on-screen instructions to submit your request.<\/p>\n

Please note that most of our accommodation areas are usually full, so while we\u2019ll always do our best to accommodate your request, we can\u2019t guarantee that a room move or swap will be available.<\/p>\n

If your room move is approved and completed \u2013 and you haven\u2019t arranged a direct swap yourself (see below) \u2013 a\u00a0\u00a350 change of contract fee<\/strong>\u00a0will be added to your student account. You\u2019ll need to\u00a0pay this online<\/a>\u00a0within\u00a0two weeks of moving<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Authorised room moves only<\/h3>\n

Please remember that\u00a0only room moves or swaps authorised by the Accommodation Office are permitted<\/strong>. Your accommodation contract must be updated if you move, and this process also ensures:<\/p>\n
