{"id":621,"date":"2025-10-06T14:23:53","date_gmt":"2025-10-06T13:23:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/student-news\/?p=621"},"modified":"2025-10-06T14:31:40","modified_gmt":"2025-10-06T13:31:40","slug":"short-network-disruption","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/student-news\/2025\/10\/06\/short-network-disruption\/","title":{"rendered":"Short network outage this evening \u2013 Mon 6 October"},"content":{"rendered":"<p data-start=\"330\" data-end=\"508\">This evening, there will be two brief periods of network disruption across campus while essential maintenance takes place to fix an <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/student-news\/2025\/10\/03\/digital-services-disruption-in-templeman-library\/\">ongoing issue affecting the Templeman Library<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"510\" data-end=\"569\"><strong data-start=\"510\" data-end=\"519\">When:<\/strong> Today (Mon 6 October) between 6.00pm and 6.30pm<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li data-start=\"572\" data-end=\"624\">First disruption at <strong data-start=\"592\" data-end=\"602\">6.00pm<\/strong> (around 20 seconds)<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"627\" data-end=\"663\">Recovery time of <strong data-start=\"644\" data-end=\"661\">10\u201315 minutes<\/strong><\/li>\n<li data-start=\"666\" data-end=\"722\">Second disruption at <strong data-start=\"687\" data-end=\"702\">6.15\u20136.20pm<\/strong> (around 20 seconds)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-start=\"510\" data-end=\"569\"><strong data-start=\"548\" data-end=\"567\">What to expect: <\/strong>All wired and wireless network connections across campus will be affected.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li data-start=\"510\" data-end=\"569\">Anything that relies on the <strong>University&#8217;s internet connection \u2014 such as browsing, streaming, gaming, using Moodle, Teams etc. <\/strong>\u2014 may be briefly interrupted.<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"510\" data-end=\"569\">Some systems may take a few minutes to reconnect afterwards.<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"510\" data-end=\"569\">If possible, we recommend avoiding scheduling online meetings, activities or tasks during this time to prevent disruption.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-start=\"1152\" data-end=\"1231\">We\u2019ll confirm once services are fully restored on the <a class=\"decorated-link\" href=\"#\" rel=\"noopener\" data-start=\"1206\" data-end=\"1230\">Service Status page<\/a>.
