Are you looking to build your confidence, develop new skills and make the most of your time at Kent? Whether you’re taking your first steps into leadership or preparing for your future career, the Global Officers Leadership Development (GOLD) Programme could be for you.<\/p>\n

Now celebrating its tenth year, GOLD returns for 2026\/27 with a refreshed programme designed to help students develop greater self-awareness, communicate with confidence and build meaningful connections across cultures and communities.<\/p>\n
Open to undergraduate and postgraduate students from all academic schools, GOLD combines interactive workshops, practical experiences and personal reflection to help you develop skills you can use at university, in your career and beyond.<\/p>\n
The GOLD Programme<\/a> focuses on three key areas of personal and leadership development:<\/p>\n Alongside these core themes, you’ll have opportunities to explore ethical leadership, sustainability, intercultural communication and your own leadership identity. You’ll also be encouraged to put your learning into practice through projects, events and activities across the University.<\/p>\n Reflecting on her experience of GOLD, former participant Astghik shared:<\/p>\n “It has broadened my worldview through meaningful listening and reflection, helping me to better understand both our differences and similarities. This has supported me in developing greater respect and empathy for other perspectives.”<\/em><\/p>\n GOLD now offers three levels of recognition – Bronze, Silver and Gold – <\/strong>giving you the flexibility to develop your skills at a pace that works alongside your studies.<\/p>\n You can start at the beginning of the Autumn, Spring or Summer Term, building your confidence, communication and Cultural Intelligence through workshops and practical experiences. As you progress, you’ll have opportunities to deepen your learning, contribute to activities across the University and gain recognition for your achievements.<\/p>\n As GOLD alumna Melissa Couvet reflects:<\/p>\n “The skills you develop through the programme are highly transferable and will be valued wherever your career takes you.”<\/em><\/p>\n Our Autumn GOLD Programme begins on Wednesday 21 October 2026<\/strong>, and we’re holding three information sessions beforehand to help you discover what GOLD involves and how you can get started.<\/p>\n Whether you’re interested in developing your leadership skills, meeting new people or simply want to find out whether GOLD is right for you, we’d love to see you!<\/p>\n Choose from one of our information sessions:<\/strong><\/p>\n Register your interest and book an information session<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n You’re welcome to turn up on the day for either of our in-person sessions, although registering in advance will help us plan. If you’d like to attend online, please book ahead so we can send you the joining link.<\/p>\n You don’t need any previous leadership experience to take part in GOLD.
