A few simple habits can help keep you, your friends and your belongings safe.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Know how to get help<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/student.kent.ac.uk\/support\/safety\"><strong>Campus Security<\/strong><\/a> is available 24 hours a day for safety advice, first aid, building access, lost property and security assistance. Save these numbers now:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Emergency: 01227 823333<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Non-emergency: 01227 823300<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Call 999 if there is immediate danger to life, violence or a crime happening now. For police non-emergencies, call 101 or report online.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Download SafeZone<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/student.kent.ac.uk\/support\/safezone\"><strong>SafeZone<\/strong><\/a> is the University safety app. You can use it to request security, safety or first-aid assistance, receive campus notifications and use Check In when working alone. On <a href=\"https:\/\/student.kent.ac.uk\/support\/safety\/canterbury#connected-routes\">Connected Routes<\/a>, it can share your location with the University security control room so they can offer support.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Keep your home, belongings and money safe<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Lock doors and windows whenever you leave, and do not let strangers into secure buildings.<\/li>\n<li>Keep valuables out of sight, record serial numbers and lock your bike securely.<\/li>\n<li>Pause before you click, buy or send money. Never share passwords, PINs or security codes after an unexpected call or message.<\/li>\n<li>Take extra care with accommodation deposits, tickets, online marketplaces and job offers.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/student.kent.ac.uk\/support\/safety\/tips#home-safety-tips\">Home safety tips<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/student.kent.ac.uk\/support\/safety\/tips#online-safety\">Online safety guidance<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<h3><strong>Plan your night out and journey home<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Make a plan with friends before you go out. Keep your phone charged, let someone know where you are and use licensed taxis or sign up to our <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/student.kent.ac.uk\/support\/safety\/canterbury\/safe-taxi-scheme\">Student Safe Taxi scheme<\/a>.<\/strong> Campus Security can walk with you across campus using our <a href=\"https:\/\/student.kent.ac.uk\/support\/safety\/canterbury#walking-taxi\"><strong>Walking Taxi service<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Avoid isolated shortcuts, follow the <a href=\"https:\/\/student.kent.ac.uk\/support\/safety\/canterbury#connected-routes\"><strong>Connected Routes<\/strong><\/a> and if something doesn\u2019t feel right, get somewhere safe like these <a href=\"https:\/\/student.kent.ac.uk\/support\/safety\/canterbury#refuge-points\"><strong>Refuge Points<\/strong><\/a> and ask for help.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/reportandsupport.kent.ac.uk\/support\/category\/spiking\"><strong>Drink spiking<\/strong><\/a> can happen and it is a crime. The responsibility and fault is always with the person spiking a drink. <em>It is never your fault if your drink has been spiked<\/em>. If someone becomes much more unwell or intoxicated than expected, tell venue staff, get somewhere safe and stay together. If someone is seriously unwell or in immediate danger, call 999.<\/p>\n<p>At participating venues, you can <a href=\"https:\/\/www.askforangela.co.uk\/\"><strong>Ask for Angela<\/strong><\/a> if you feel unsafe or uncomfortable. Staff can help you find friends, arrange safe transport or contact security.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Report abuse, harassment or hate<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>If you experience or witness abuse, harassment or hate, you can report anonymously or ask for support through <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/reportandsupport.kent.ac.uk\/\">Report and Support<\/a><\/strong>. Asking for support does not automatically start a formal complaint. Student Support and Wellbeing have a <a href=\"https:\/\/student.kent.ac.uk\/support\/specialist-wellbeing-support\"><strong>Specialist Wellbeing team<\/strong><\/a> providing practical support and advice to anyone needing it.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Look after each other<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Save the key numbers, download SafeZone and check in on your mates.
