If you\u2019re still searching, I want to reassure you that it is absolutely not too late! There are still opportunities available, and the deadline to secure one isn\u2019t until <strong>19 June.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><b>Search actively<\/b><\/p>\n<p>One of the most important things is staying proactive, especially over the summer term. Make sure you are searching using a range of job platforms relevant to your degree, for example:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/student.kent.ac.uk\/careers\/career-planning\/what-can-i-do-with-a-degree-in\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">What Can I Do With My Degree? <\/a>\u00a0These pages by the Careers and Employability Service have links to subject-specific jobs sites.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/higherin.com\/search-jobs\/placements\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Higherin<\/a>\u00a0 Search for placement opportunities and filter by location, job role and company.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.brightnetwork.co.uk\/industrial-placements\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Bright Network\u00a0<\/a> Search for placements by sector, location and employer.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/feed\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">LinkedIn<\/a> can also be a powerful tool, not just for job searching but for understanding companies, connecting with professionals, and staying aware of opportunities. Even simply following companies you\u2019re interested in can make a difference! You can find out more about LinkedIn on the Careers and Employability Service <a href=\"https:\/\/moodle.kent.ac.uk\/2025\/course\/section.php?id=27012\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Moodle page<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Reach out directly<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Another approach that is often overlooked is reaching out to companies directly. Smaller or local organisations may not always advertise formal placement roles but may still be open to taking on a student. This is an underrated way to uncover hidden opportunities, and the Careers and Employability Service <a href=\"https:\/\/moodle.kent.ac.uk\/2025\/mod\/h5pactivity\/view.php?id=14870\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">provides guidance<\/a> on how to approach this. Advisers can also <a href=\"https:\/\/careers.kent.ac.uk\/leap\/appointments.html?types=348\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">check over your draft email or cover letter<\/a> before you send it.<\/p>\n<p><strong>My top tips<\/strong><br \/>\nWhen it comes to applications, a few things made a real difference for me.<\/p>\n<p>Firstly, tailoring each application to the role rather than sending the same version repeatedly. Secondly, focusing on transferable skills from university, part-time work or projects, even if you don\u2019t have direct experience.
