Applications are now open for <strong>ResLife Ambassadors (RLAs)<\/strong> for the 2026\/27 academic year, and this could be your opportunity to turn your ideas into reality.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"text-text-100 mt-3 -mb-1 text-[1.125rem] font-bold\"><strong>What is a ResLife Ambassador (RLA)?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p class=\"font-claude-response-body break-words whitespace-normal leading-[1.7]\">ResLife Ambassadors (RLAs) are at the heart of the <a href=\"https:\/\/student.kent.ac.uk\/life\/living-on-campus\/reslife\"><strong>ResLife programme<\/strong><\/a> and help make living on campus fun, welcoming, and social. As fellow Kent students who live on campus, they know what student life is really like.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-claude-response-body break-words whitespace-normal leading-[1.7]\">RLAs help new and returning students settle in, make friends, and feel part of the community. They plan and run a wide range of activities and events &#8211; from movie nights and quiz nights to day trips and cultural celebrations &#8211; and help create an inclusive, supportive environment where everyone feels safe and respected.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-claude-response-body break-words whitespace-normal leading-[1.7]\">If students ever need a bit of support, RLAs are there to listen, offer advice, or point them in the right direction. As an RLA, you&#8217;ll be the friendly face that helps new students settle in, make friends, and feel like they truly belong.<\/li>\n<li class=\"font-claude-response-body break-words whitespace-normal leading-[1.7]\"><strong>Save on accommodation costs.<\/strong> You\u2019ll receive a reduction on your on-campus accommodation fees, keeping you close to the action and giving you a great base for both your studies and your social life.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 class=\"text-text-100 mt-3 -mb-1 text-[1.125rem] font-bold\"><strong>How much time do you need to commit?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p class=\"font-claude-response-body break-words whitespace-normal leading-[1.7]\">You&#8217;ll need to commit to an average of <strong>8 hours per week<\/strong> during term time. You\u2019ll be doing this alongside your studies, but the hours are flexible, so you can fit it around your timetable. You&#8217;ll also need to:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"[li_&amp;]:mb-0 [li_&amp;]:mt-1 [li_&amp;]:gap-1 [&amp;:not(:last-child)_ul]:pb-1 [&amp;:not(:last-child)_ol]:pb-1 list-disc flex flex-col gap-1 pl-8 mb-3\">\n<li class=\"whitespace-normal break-words pl-2\">Attend a Selection Workshop on <strong>Tuesday 22 April 2026<\/strong><\/li>\n<li class=\"whitespace-normal break-words pl-2\">Complete two days of online training on <strong>Thursday 17 and Friday 18 September 2026<\/strong><\/li>\n<li class=\"whitespace-normal break-words pl-2\">Move into campus accommodation on <strong>Friday 25 September 2026<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-1866 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/student-news\/files\/2026\/02\/ResLife-Ambassadors-6.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"3600\" height=\"2400\" \/><\/p>\n<h2 class=\"text-text-100 mt-3 -mb-1 text-[1.125rem] font-bold\"><strong>Who are we looking for?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p class=\"font-claude-response-body break-words whitespace-normal leading-[1.7]\">You don&#8217;t need to be the most outgoing person on campus (though enthusiasm definitely helps). We&#8217;re looking for students who are:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"[li_&amp;]:mb-0 [li_&amp;]:mt-1 [li_&amp;]:gap-1 [&amp;:not(:last-child)_ul]:pb-1 [&amp;:not(:last-child)_ol]:pb-1 list-disc flex flex-col gap-1 pl-8 mb-3\">\n<li class=\"whitespace-normal break-words pl-2\"><strong>Currently in their second, third, or fourth year<\/strong>, or postgraduate students<\/li>\n<li class=\"whitespace-normal break-words pl-2\"><strong>Enrolled full-time<\/strong> at the University of Kent for the entire 2026\/27 academic year<\/li>\n<li class=\"whitespace-normal break-words pl-2\"><strong>Organised and self-motivated<\/strong> &#8211; you&#8217;ll need to manage your time between studies, the RLA role, and any other commitments<\/li>\n<li class=\"whitespace-normal break-words pl-2\"><strong>Team players<\/strong> who can work well with others but also take initiative<\/li>\n<li class=\"whitespace-normal break-words pl-2\"><strong>Committed to inclusivity &#8211; <\/strong>you&#8217;ll be creating spaces where everyone feels welcome and valued<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"font-claude-response-body break-words whitespace-normal leading-[1.7]\">Experience in event planning, student committees, or volunteer work is great, but it&#8217;s not essential.
