We\u2019ve compiled some information for you around where you can buy food once you arrive, including supermarkets and places to eat out.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Canterbury<\/strong><\/h3>\n<h4><strong>Supermarkets<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>On campus we have two small Co-op supermarkets run by\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/ksu.co.uk\/winter\">Kent Students\u2019 Union<\/a>\u00a0\u2013 one in the plaza on central campus and one in Park Wood. January opening times:<\/p>\n<h4><strong>Plaza Co-op<\/strong><\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>Monday 5 January 2026 &#8211; Friday 9 January 2026: 07:00-21:00<\/li>\n<li>Saturday 10 January 2026: 08:00-21:00<\/li>\n<li>Sunday 11 January 2026: 12:00-18:00<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4><strong>Park Wood Co-op<\/strong><\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>Reopens on Friday 9 January 2026. Friday 9 January &#8211; Saturday 10 January 2026: 09:00-17:00<\/li>\n<li>Sunday 11 January: 09:00-22:30.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>From Monday 12 January, both Co-op shops will be open as normal for the start of term.<\/p>\n<p>For larger supermarkets, you might want to\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/kent.ac.uk\/transport\/commute-smarter\/bus-travel\/stagecoach-buses\">catch the bus<\/a>\u00a0into town to Sainsbury\u2019s, Asda and Lidl.<\/p>\n<p>See this\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.co.uk\/maps\/d\/u\/0\/viewer?mid=1sXqTvwVddTZPzPgGwb75fJVT2lt7Otw&amp;ll=51.28432729622834%2C1.0813978999999962&amp;z=14\">Canterbury google maps<\/a>\u00a0showing supermarkets, international food stores and other useful shops.<\/p>\n<h4><strong>Places to eat on or near campus<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>Check out the catering outlets\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/catering\">winter break timetable<\/a>\u00a0to see where and when you can purchase food on our Canterbury campus.<\/p>\n<p>Kent Students\u2019 Union also have the Library Caf\u00e9 and Woody\u2019s which sells food and drinks. See their\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/ksu.co.uk\/winter\">winter break opening times<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Once term begins on 13 January, all our outlets will be open during their usual opening times.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/catering\">See catering webpage to learn more<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In Canterbury city centre, there are loads of places to eat. Look out for student discounts at some cafes and restaurants.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Medway<\/strong><\/h3>\n<h4><strong>Supermarkets<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>Next to Pier Quays accommodation there is a small Tesco Express supermarket which is open 24\/7. There is also a range of restaurants and cafes at the Dockside Outlet Centre which is a 10-minute walk down the road.<\/p>\n<p>Once term begins on 12 January, you can also check out some places to eat at the Medway campus including\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.thehubmedway.co.uk\/thedeepend\/\">The Deep End<\/a>\u00a0which is part of the Hub, the Archibald Hay Mess in the Drill Hall Library and the Venue Cafe in Pilkington Building.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Welcome to Kent!
