{"id":1152,"date":"2025-11-26T19:18:16","date_gmt":"2025-11-26T19:18:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/student-news\/?p=1152"},"modified":"2025-11-26T19:18:16","modified_gmt":"2025-11-26T19:18:16","slug":"deaf-culture-and-architectural-design","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/student-news\/2025\/11\/26\/deaf-culture-and-architectural-design\/","title":{"rendered":"Deaf Culture and Architectural Design"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"lead\">This session will offer an insightful exploration into the intersections of Deaf culture and architectural practice, aimed at students, academics, practitioners, and allies interested in inclusive and accessible design<\/p>\n<h3>Join us to learn more about Deaf Architecture Front (DAF) &#8211; what it is, what we do, and how we aim to bridge the gap between the architecture industry and the Deaf community.<\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The event will highlight our ongoing research and\u00a0projects,\u00a0as well as founder Chris Laing\u2019s plans to strengthen connections between Deaf culture and architectural design.<\/p>\n<p>Chris will also discuss Silent Buttons, presenting a <strong>short film of the same name. He will explain the creative process behind the film and the importance of the campaign in raising awareness of the everyday barriers faced by the Deaf community.
