It encourages individuals and organisations to take positive action against gender-based violence by challenging harmful attitudes and behaviours that lead to this. Wearing a white ribbon symbolises a commitment to ending violence against women and girls and marks the start of the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>When does it take place?<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This year the theme for White Ribbon Day is \u2018We Speak Up\u2019 and it takes place on Tuesday 25 November.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>How can I learn more?<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The White Ribbon movement began in 1991 and you can find out more about it by visiting the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.whiteribbon.org.uk\/white-ribbon-day\"><strong>White Ribbon website<\/strong><\/a>. There are also student training modules you can review, such as Kent\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/moodle.kent.ac.uk\/2025\/course\/view.php?id=2592\"><strong>Consent Training<\/strong><\/a>. You can also find out more about <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/student-support\/1014\/help-end-domestic-abuse-join-the-16-days-of-activism\">events at Kent<\/a> <\/strong>you can join.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>What can I do?<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>You can find out on the White Ribbon website ways to offer support such as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.whiteribbon.org.uk\/allies\"><strong>being an ally<\/strong><\/a>, becoming an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.whiteribbon.org.uk\/ambassadors-champions\"><strong>ambassador or champion<\/strong><\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.whiteribbon.org.uk\/fundraising\"><strong>fundraising<\/strong><\/a>. There are many national charities you can support, including <a href=\"https:\/\/womensaid.org.uk\/\"><strong>Women\u2019s Aid<\/strong><\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/refuge.org.uk\/\"><strong>Refuge<\/strong><\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fawcettsociety.org.uk\/\"><strong>The Fawcett Society<\/strong><\/a>. There are also local charities in Kent that you can support, such as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.risingsunkent.com\/\"><strong>Rising Sun Domestic Violence &amp; Abuse Charity<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>What University groups or networks are there?<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Kent Students\u2019 Union have a number of societies and networks you can join, including the <a href=\"https:\/\/ksu.co.uk\/networks\/Womens\"><strong>Women&#8217;s Network<\/strong><\/a>, the <a href=\"https:\/\/ksu.co.uk\/activities\/WomeninBusiness\"><strong>Women in Business Society<\/strong><\/a>, the <a href=\"https:\/\/ksu.co.uk\/activities\/Women-in-Politics\"><strong>Women in Politics Society<\/strong><\/a>, and the <a href=\"https:\/\/ksu.co.uk\/activities\/womxninstem\"><strong>Womxn in STEM Society<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>How do I report an incident? <\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>You can report an incident such as harassment or bullying through <a href=\"https:\/\/reportandsupport.kent.ac.uk\/\"><strong>Report + Support<\/strong><\/a>.
