Representing a range of cultures, academic disciplines, and personal interests, we are delighted to showcase this year’s cohort of Global Officers who are taking part in the Global Officers Leadership Development (GOLD) Programme.
What is the GOLD Programme?
The Programme is a year-long co-curricular venture designed to fit around your academic studies. It provides a framework of activities for globally-minded students at Kent to develop their leadership skills, global citizenship and cultural awareness.
So far this year, our Global Officers have started to explore their own Cultural Intelligence and how they can develop this further; reflected on what it means to be an emotionally intelligent leader and recognised how to successfully manage an event or project in a cross-cultural context. They have supported our Global Hangout series, with the next one happening on the 5th December. This week our Global Officers will be supporting Kent Student’s Union with their Cultural Celebration Week planning, and developing their own blog writing skills, thinking about how they can tell and share their own story.
The Programme provides a forum to learn more about the university, work with colleagues across the university and influence and make an impact on global experiences at Kent in a well-supported environment.
How can you get involved?
Look out for events and initiatives being led by our Global Officers and how you can get involved, follow our Instagram and they will soon be counting down to Christmas, as they bring you a festive advent calendar where they share their own festive celebrations, traditions, and favourite things.
If you are inspired by this story, did you know that you may be able to include the GOLD Programme within your degree course by taking it as an elective wild module in your 3rd year, INTL6020 Global Leadership Development?
If you are not able to sign up for the module, you can join us as an extra-curricular activity, some workshops are open to all students or you can apply to become a Global Officer for 2026/27 when applications will re-open in the summer term.
