Bonfire Night is a time many look forward to – crackling fires, dazzling fireworks and gathering with friends. But it’s also a time to be extra mindful of fire safety.
- A quick reminder that fireworks are strictly not allowed on campus or in any university accommodation. This includes sparklers, firecrackers and any other pyrotechnics. These rules are in place to keep everyone safe and prevent fire hazards.
- Fire safety is everyone’s responsibility. Whether you’re celebrating or just enjoying the evening, please be aware of fire risks. Make sure you are aware of and follow the fire safety rules on campus.
- If you see any unsafe fire practices on campus, please report it immediately to Campus Security or Kent Fire and Rescue Service in an emergency.
Looking for ways to celebrate safely?
Here are a few ideas:
- Attend a local organised Bonfire Night event off campus. These are professionally managed and much safer.
- Host a Bonfire Night-themed movie night, walk or dinner with friends.
- Enjoy seasonal treats like toffee apples, hot chocolate and jacket potatoes.
Let’s keep our campus safe and respectful for everyone this Bonfire Night. Thanks for doing your part!
