Nick’s Unexpected Celebration!

Tile stating: Student TestimonialInitially, I didn’t think that the University of Kent Careers & Employability Service would be able to help me as I already have a good job within my organisation and thought that the degree would aid my progression when I completed my degree. How wrong was I?

I secured a second interview for a job that I thought I might be able to get in 10 years! Having attended a seminar with the careers service on our Year 2 Welcome back day, I thought I would reach out to them to see what support they could provide. I was blown away with how friendly and supportive Susannah was. She greatly helped me understand and overcome my imposter syndrome, lessons of which I am still employing after the recruitment process came to an end. Susannah was also fantastic at giving relevant advice to the part of the recruitment process that I was at and left me feeling significantly more confident about my next interview.

I was having my lunch, surrounded by my course mates when the call came in to tell me that I successfully got the job! As soon as the call ended, all my course mates cheered and screamed, delivering one of the most wholesome experiences of my life. I am incredibly grateful to Susannah for the incredible support that she provided and will keep her wise words about imposter syndrome with me for many years to come.
