South Asian Heritage Month

South Asian Heritage Month is an annual UK observance running from 1–31 July that celebrates, commemorates, and educates about the rich cultures, histories, and contributions of South Asian communities. The observance empowers the next generation to be proud of their identity while deepening public understanding of the intertwined histories between the UK and the eight South Asian nations (Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, the Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka). The 2026 theme for South Asian Heritage Month is ‘Unity in Diversity’, to explore shared values, intertwined histories, and common commitments to community and belonging, highlighting the beauty of cultural diversity.

You can find out more about events happening across the UK on the South Asian Heritage website and there is also a toolkit available. Kent Students’ Union (KSU) also have numerous societies and networks you can join, including the Indian Society, the Nepal Society, the Pakistani Society, the Sri Lankan Society, and the REMP Network (Racially and Ethnically Minoritised People).
