The LGBT+ at Kent Afternoon

You’re invited to kick off Pride Month with us by bringing together our Kent community for an afternoon of conversation. The event will feature flash talks on recent research centred around LGBT+ matters and a panel discussion reflecting on lived experiences within the LGBT+ community.

    • 🎤 Peter Ellis – “What is Biological Sex & Who Cares?” 
    • 🎤 Eleni Vosnaki – “The Gender Beehive: Identity Discourses Through Transgender Case Law in the United Kingdom”
    • 🎤 Sid Connor – “Friends of Garak: The Role of Online Fan Culture in Queer Readings of Star Trek”
    • 🎤 Sarah Morris – “Fantasties and Phantasms in Omegaverse Fanficton”
  • 🍕🥤13:00–14:00: Lunch (Pizza & Soft Drinks) (Sibson Atrium)
  • 14:00–15:00: Flash Talk & Panel Discussion (Kennedy KENSR1)
    • 🎤 Carin Tunåker – “Understanding LGBT+ Youth Experiences with Homelessness”
    • 🎤 Panel Discussion on LGBT+ Lived Experiences led by Nikhil Sengupta, joined by Sid Connor, Rosie Aspland, and Charlie Haynes.

We hope you can join us for some or all of the afternoon as we mark the beginning of Pride Month, celebrate LGBT+ research and voices at Kent, and create space for meaningful discussion across our community.
