Spring vacation

With the weather warming up and the days drawing out, it could only mean one thing. Spring is coming!

Spring is almost here. While we’re looking forward to warmer days, daffodils, and campus coming back to life, it also means some students will need to leave their accommodation during the spring vacation. Not all campus contracts include vacation periods, so it’s important to check what applies to you.

Do I need to move out over the spring vacation?

If you live in self-catered accommodation, you can stay on campus over the spring break. This is included in your 38-week accommodation contract.

Students living in Becket Court and Keynes College must vacate their rooms from Saturday 21 March to Saturday 11 April 2026.

As part of your 31-week contract, your room must be cleared of belongings during this period. If you need somewhere to store your items, take a look at our storage guide before you travel.

What if I want to stay on campus?

If you live in Becket Court or Keynes College (Blocks F, G, H and I) and would like to remain on campus, you’re in luck! You can book vacation accommodation online.

Bookings must be made by Friday 13 March 2026 to allow time for arrangements. Vacation accommodation is available in Darwin and Woolf College for the full 21-day period.

  • Darwin College: £483 – shared facilities

  • Woolf College: £756 – en-suite

Although we’re super excited at the idea of sitting out for lunch and seeing the campus come to life with daffodils, we’ll also be sad to see some of our students depart their accommodations for spring vacation. Yes, you heard correctly, not all students living in campus accommodation can stay during the vacation periods.

What do I need to do before I leave my accommodation?

Before heading off for the break, take a few minutes to run through this checklist to make sure your accommodation is in tip-top condition for your return in April.

Leaving checklist

  • Pack up your belongings and take important items with you, or arrange secure storage

  • Turn off and unplug all electrical items (except the fridge)

  • Put the rubbish out and remove any perishable food from the fridge — no one wants to come back to a mouldy piece of cheese or lumpy milk

  • Close windows (leave vents open) and lock all doors

  • Collect any mail or parcels from your letterbox or reception

If you live in part-catered accommodation, you must return your fob to reception by 10:00 on Saturday 21 March 2026 so it can be reactivated for next term. It’s an easy one to forget, so make sure it’s on your leaving checklist.

Meal plans during the vacation

Meal plans do not run during vacation periods. If you are staying on campus, you will still have access to a fully functioning kitchen.

If you fancy eating out instead, check the catering website for updated vacation opening times.
