Vegetation management around Keynes Pond

The Landscape and Grounds Team will be carrying out some vital vegetation management work from the 19 January on one side of the Keynes pond, the side nearest to the café.

This work will open up the view from the café to the pond, allowing guests to see a better view of the pond and waterfowl throughout the year.

Winter is the perfect time of year to do this work, due to the majority of the wildlife that rely on the pond not being there. Whilst the work will look harsh initially, we look forward to seeing the plants grow back in the Spring and soften the bank again. It’s essential to manage the vegetation growth in and around the pond to maintain the pond and keep it from gradually filling in.

The team will have a member of staff on-site during the day with a watching brief to monitor any wildlife activity whilst the work is taking place. If required, the plans can be adapted to ensure disturbance is kept to a minimum. We will also take this opportunity to remove any litter from the pond and have a general tidy up of the area.
