Happy Thanksgiving!

We would like to wish a happy Thanksgiving on Thursday 27 November to all our students and staff who celebrate this national holiday!

Thanksgiving is predominantly celebrated in America and Canada. In America, Thanksgiving is celebrated every year on the fourth Thursday in November, and in Canada it is celebrated on the second Monday in October. This national holiday is also celebrated on the first Monday in October in Saint Lucia and the first Thursday of November in Liberia. Thanksgiving is an opportunity to gather with family and friends and reflect on the positive things in life to be thankful for. In America, it marks the beginning of the Christmas holiday season. The traditional Thanksgiving meal typically includes turkey, bread stuffing, potatoes, cranberries, and pumpkin pie, but there are different alternatives.

This year, Canterbury Cathedral are running American Connections Tours, where you can discover the strong bond that Canterbury Cathedral has with the United States. One of these tours is taking place on Thursday 27 November (11:15-12:30) to mark Thanksgiving. The cost is £5 per person, plus Cathedral admission charge, although there is no standard admission charge for full-time students if they show their KentOne card.

If you are celebrating Thanksgiving, then we wish you a joyful national holiday!
