Become a Peer-Assisted Learning (PAL) Leader

Are you in your first year at Kent? Would you like to help others and develop your own skills along the way?

We’re looking for current First Year (Stage 1) and Foundation Year students to become Peer Assisted Learning (PAL) Leaders for 2026/27 academic year.  This is a great way to build your confidence, develop new skills, and support future students starting their journey.
As a PAL Leader, you’ll run relaxed, small-group sessions for new students. You’ll share your experience, help others feel more confident, and create a welcoming space to talk through ideas and challenges, all through discussion (not teaching or giving answers).
What’s in it for you?
  • Build confidence in leading groups and supporting others
  • Develop communication, teamwork, and leadership skills
  • Gain experience that strengthens your CV and future applications
  • Receive formal recognition (certificate + employability points + open reference)
  • Help shape a positive experience for new students
Who can apply?
We’d love to hear from you if you:
  • Are a current Foundation or Stage 1 student
  • Have engaged with your studies and university life
  • Are friendly, supportive, and keen to help others
  • We are encouraging applications from students within Kent Business School, Kent Law School, School of Humanities, School of Natural Sciences and School of Engineering, Mathematics & Physics.
No teaching experience is needed – full training is provided.
For details about the role, please see the Job Description and Person Specification.
Apply online by 9am Tuesday 26 May 2026
If you want to give back, grow your confidence, and make a real difference to new students, we encourage you to apply.
