Peer Assisted Learning (PAL) for Stage 1: Study advice from students on your course

Students sat together in classroom

Have you heard about Peer Assisted Learning? (PAL)

Peer Assisted Learning (PAL) is a friendly, informal support scheme where trained students from higher years run regular sessions to help you succeed in your course. PAL sessions give you the chance to ask questions, share study strategies, and build confidence in a relaxed, non-judgemental environment – led by a student who’s been in your position before.

What’s happening in PAL this week?

This week, students have been discussing how to approach their assignments. This includes developing their understanding of the assessment brief, breaking the task into manageable steps, and making use of planning tools such as the assignment survival kit.

Join us for our PAL Focus Group on Wednesday 4 February!

Next week, we’ll be hosting a focus group to explore how students could benefit from PAL and what you’d like the scheme to look like. We want to make PAL even better and ensure it works well for both PAL Leaders and the students who attend sessions.

Whether you’ve heard of the scheme or not, we’d love you to come along and share your views.

When: Wednesday 4 February
Time: 11:30 – 13:00
Where: Templeman Seminar Room 1

If you can, please email saspal@kent.ac.uk to let us know you’re coming – but you’re also very welcome to just turn up on the day. If you have any questions, feel free to get in touch.

Get in touch with your PAL Leader!

If you are unsure of who your PAL Leader(s) are, or if the PAL scheme is available in your School, please email saspal@kent.ac.uk and let us know what you are studying.
