FREE WORKSHOPS for children and young people
On Saturday November 29th, we are offering a series of creative workshops for children and young people to explore who they are. This is a special invitation to Kent colleagues to bring their children and young people to the Learning Lab at the Beaney (Canterbury High St) to explore their own creativity, and to see the exhibition This is Me!, a creative exhibition from the Living Assessments project in association with the National Children’s Bureau and sponsored by the Wellcome Trust.
Times are as follows:
11-12 Poetry and Writing Workshop
12:15-13:15 Drawing Workshop
13:30-14:30 Poetry and Writing Workshop
14:45-15:45 Drawing Workshop
Workshop leaders:
Lucy McGeown is artist and teacher based in Margate, she is a founding member of London Drawing Group which teaches online art classes to an international audience. Lucy’s own work is based on drawing and includes painting and sculpture. She creates abstract work that plays with the rhythms and shapes of buildings and urban architecture.
Nell Perry is a poet, writer and university lecturer whose work explores themes of voice, work, identity, and human interactions with space and place. They have published five books of poetry and have several more forthcoming in 2026.
NB: A photographer will be present, but they will not photograph any participants, although we may ask for permission to photograph creative work.

A pop-up art exhibition at The Beaney by children and young people who are disabled or have care experience.
