This year the World Mental Health Day theme is mental health in catastrophes and emergencies, highlighting the importance of people being able to protect their mental health whatever they’re going through.

Canterbury activities
Head to Eliot Hall on Friday 10 Oct between 10:00-16:00 to get involved with a wide range of events to boost your wellbeing such as:
- Crafts including pebble painting, Halloween decoration making and mindfulness colouring
- A plant giveaway
- VR headsets for mindfulness
- Sport activities including boxing and hula hoop activities
- Seated yoga and mindfulness
And while you’re there you can speak with staff from Student Support and Wellbeing, the ResLife team, Kent Students’ Union and Kent Sport, to find out more about support on offer throughout the year.
There will also be board games in Eliot Extension, which is the new home for Student Support and Wellbeing.
Medway activities
At Medway campus, head to the Oasis Lounge (Medway Building, first floor) on Friday 1 Oct between 11:00-14:00. Enjoy cuddles with a therapy dog (12:30-14:00) and pick up a free plant.
There will be staff from Student Support and Wellbeing, as well as the new Medway Campus Chaplain, Rev. Christa. Talk to them to find out more about different support and ways to connect with other students.
Accessing support
Student Support and Wellbeing are here support you with mental health, disabilities, neurodivergence and learning differences. Specific mental health support for students includes:
- Counselling service
- 24/7 support through our partner organisation Spectrum Life (online, text and phone support)
- Special wellbeing support for students who have faced bullying, harassment or sexual violence
- Groups and clubs including Social Running for ADHD, Board Games Social Club and Autism Model Making Club
- Wellbeing events throughout the year
