{"id":589,"date":"2017-03-06T12:21:51","date_gmt":"2017-03-06T12:21:51","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/standupcomedyarchive\/?p=589"},"modified":"2017-03-13T08:36:53","modified_gmt":"2017-03-13T08:36:53","slug":"histcompod-episode-1-foodstuff","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/standupcomedyarchive\/histcompod-episode-1-foodstuff\/","title":{"rendered":"HistComPod &#8211; Episode 1 &#8216;Foodstuff&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The first ever episode of \u2018A History Of Comedy In Several Objects\u2019, alternatively known as \u2018HistComPod\u2019\u00a0is now available on the <a href=\"https:\/\/itunes.apple.com\/gb\/podcast\/a-history-of-comedy-in-several-objects\/id1210414720\" target=\"_blank\">iTunes podcast store<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The podcast, devised and presented by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/arts\/staff-profiles\/drama\/double.html\" target=\"_blank\">Dr Oliver Double<\/a> (Director of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/arts\/research\/centres\/popularcomicperformance\/\" target=\"_blank\">Comedy &amp; Popular Performance Research Centre<\/a> and previously a professional comedian) and Elspeth Millar (Archivist in the University\u2019s Special Collections &amp; Archives),\u00a0aims to illustrate the history of stand-up comedy through objects found within the British Stand-Up Comedy Archive. Each episode features a particular item\/object\/record from the archive, which Olly and Elspeth\u00a0discuss to show what it reveals about the art and craft of stand-up and the recent history of the form.<\/p>\n<p>In the jam-packed inaugural episode, Olly and Elspeth discuss the origins of the archive, the project of the podcast and whether it\u2019s possible to archive a performance.
