You can find it at <a href=\"http:\/\/archive.kent.ac.uk\" target=\"_blank\">http:\/\/archive.kent.ac.uk<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>You can search for performers, promoters, comedy clubs, or other key words using the simple search option on the <a href=\"http:\/\/archive.kent.ac.uk\" target=\"_blank\">homepage<\/a>, or you can use the <a href=\"http:\/\/archive.kent.ac.uk\/Advanced.aspx?src=CalmView.Catalog\" target=\"_blank\">advanced search<\/a> option to search in more detail. For example,\u00a0you can search or browse by date (searching for\u00a01970s\u00a0will result in records created in this decade), or by category (for example, browse\u00a0through all of the audio recordings,\u00a0or set lists and notes). You can also just browse all of the BSUCA collections using the <a href=\"http:\/\/archive.kent.ac.uk\/TreeBrowse.aspx?src=CalmView.Catalog&amp;field=RefNo&amp;key=BSUCA\" target=\"_blank\">BSUCA hierarchical tree<\/a>.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_553\" style=\"width: 823px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/standupcomedyarchive\/files\/2016\/09\/tree.jpg\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-553\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-553\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/standupcomedyarchive\/files\/2016\/09\/tree.jpg\" alt=\"BSUCA hierarchical tree\" width=\"813\" height=\"909\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/standupcomedyarchive\/files\/2016\/09\/tree.jpg 813w, https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/standupcomedyarchive\/files\/2016\/09\/tree-268x300.jpg 268w, https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/standupcomedyarchive\/files\/2016\/09\/tree-768x859.jpg 768w, https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/standupcomedyarchive\/files\/2016\/09\/tree-624x698.jpg 624w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 813px) 100vw, 813px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-553\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">BSUCA hierarchical tree<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Most collections within the BSUCA are catalogued in a hierarchical structure &#8211; this is because we follow an international archival cataloguing standard called <a href=\"http:\/\/archiveshub.ac.uk\/isadg\/\" target=\"_blank\">ISAD(G)<\/a> &#8211; with a top-level collection record (such as <a href=\"http:\/\/archive.kent.ac.uk\/Record.aspx?src=CalmView.Catalog&amp;id=BSUCA%2fLS\" target=\"_blank\">this for the Linda\u00a0Smith Collection<\/a>) which describes the collection as a whole, followed by levels below (called &#8216;series&#8217;, &#8216;sub-series&#8217; etc) which cover specific groups of material (such as business records, performance records, audio-visual records). Some individual items are\u00a0catalogued\u00a0down to &#8216;item level&#8217; (such as this <a href=\"http:\/\/archive.kent.ac.uk\/Record.aspx?src=CalmView.Catalog&amp;id=BSUCA%2fAT%2f1%2f4%2f1\" target=\"_blank\">audio recording\u00a0of Tony Allen and Andy de la Tour performing in as part of Alternative Cabaret Collective in\u00a01981<\/a>)\u00a0although some items (leaflets, flyers) are\u00a0catalogued to\u00a0a folder level\u00a0(such as <a href=\"http:\/\/archive.kent.ac.uk\/Record.aspx?src=CalmView.Catalog&amp;id=BSUCA%2fTD%2f4%2f3\" target=\"_blank\">this record for flyers and posters for The Santa Claus Science Experiment in Tiernan Douieb&#8217;s collection<\/a>).\u00a0The way in which a collection has been catalogued reflects as closely as possible the way in which the original creator of the material (in the case of BSUCA, this is often the depositor themselves) had organised the material.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_552\" style=\"width: 823px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/standupcomedyarchive\/files\/2016\/09\/laffs.jpg\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-552\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-552\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/standupcomedyarchive\/files\/2016\/09\/laffs.jpg\" alt=\"Catalogue record for posters in the Mark Thomas Collection\" width=\"813\" height=\"959\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/standupcomedyarchive\/files\/2016\/09\/laffs.jpg 813w, https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/standupcomedyarchive\/files\/2016\/09\/laffs-254x300.jpg 254w, https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/standupcomedyarchive\/files\/2016\/09\/laffs-768x906.jpg 768w, https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/standupcomedyarchive\/files\/2016\/09\/laffs-624x736.jpg 624w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 813px) 100vw, 813px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-552\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Catalogue record for posters in the Mark Thomas Collection<\/p><\/div>\n<p>The catalogue is a work-in-progress and there are a few collections in the BSUCA which are not yet catalogued or are in the process of being catalogued. We are able to provide a listing for these on request &#8211; just email <a href=\"mailto:specialcollections@kent.ac.uk\" target=\"_blank\">specialcollections@kent.ac.uk<\/a>.\u00a0 This online catalogue will also be incorporating, over the course of 2016,\u00a0Special Collections &amp; Archives material (such as our theatre collections, windmill\u00a0collections, and personal archives)\u00a0which are currently available via the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/library\/specialcollections\/\" target=\"_blank\">web pages<\/a> or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/library\/\" target=\"_blank\">Library Search<\/a>. If you are looking for material which you think we have, but can&#8217;t find, please <a href=\"http:\/\/specialcollections@kent.ac.uk\" target=\"_blank\">email us<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Because of copyright restrictions we are not able to provide digital access to much of the material, although we are providing access where we do have permissions. If there is material you discover through the catalogue that you would like to access for research, teaching, or just out of general interest please <a href=\"http:\/\/specialcollections@kent.ac.uk\" target=\"_blank\">email us<\/a>! We are open to everyone although we do need at least two days&#8217; notice in order to retrieve material from the archive store.
