{"id":1,"date":"2015-01-06T16:34:20","date_gmt":"2015-01-06T16:34:20","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/standupcomedyarchive\/?p=1"},"modified":"2015-01-26T19:18:58","modified_gmt":"2015-01-26T19:18:58","slug":"hello-world","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/standupcomedyarchive\/hello-world\/","title":{"rendered":"Our new British Stand-Up Comedy Archive blog"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Elspeth Millar, Project Archivist, writes:<\/p>\n<p>Welcome to the blog for the British Stand-Up Comedy Archive and the British Stand-Up Comedy Archive \u2018Beacon\u2019 Project, which will be active throughout 2015.<\/p>\n<p>The British Stand-Up Comedy Archive at the University of Kent was established in 2013 to celebrate, preserve, and provide access to the archives and records of British stand-up comedy and stand-up comedians. You can find more information on the archive itself\u00a0and the Beacon project on the <a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/standupcomedyarchive\/about\/\">\u2018about\u2019<\/a> page of this blog, and through our blog postings as the project develops.<\/p>\n<p>The 2015 Beacon Project aspect of the BSUCA will organise the public launch of the archive;\u00a0catalogue, preserve, digitise,\u00a0and make accessible the existing collections; publicise the collections and their use; and identify new collections for deposit in the archive. We also have a number of public events planned, including the inaugural Linda Smith lecture, a series of \u2018in conversation\u2019 events with Olly Double, and\u00a0a conference in January 2016.\u00a0 Further information can be\u00a0found on the <a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/standupcomedyarchive\/events\/\">events page<\/a> of this blog.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to the purposes and aims listed above, within this project we also aim to ask and\u00a0answer\u00a0questions and challenges that may arise from an archive of Stand-Up Comedy, such as\u2026<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>What archives do comedians collect and keep? What should we encourage them to keep?<\/li>\n<li>Who will use the collections, and how should we encourage and\u00a0facilitate their use?
