Events roundup: Welcome Week

This week is Welcome Week! Here’s a roundup of our top events this week, with lots of opportunities to meet people and try new things.

Tuesday: Petting Zoo, Try it Tuesday and Services for Students Online Showcase

You might have some compulsory Division or School events today. Check your emails or the Division and School Welcome events webpage.

There are a huge range of services across the University to help you study, keep you fit, inspire your creativity, develop your skills and support your academic and personal development. The Services for Student Online Showcase offers you information about all of these services, with online live chat 10.00-12.30.

Join us at Woody’s for the Petting Zoo where the Animal Encounters Farmyard will be around for you to meet some lovely animals who are bound to brighten up your day. Say hi to cows, ponies, donkeys and more.

Come along to Try it Tuesday at Medway to give some fun activities try including a climbing wall, mini golf and different sports at The Hub.

Strap yourself in and compete against seven others to be named the hungriest hippo! Including bungee ropes, inflatables and carnage. Drop in on the Library Lawn.

Wednesday: Medway Welcome Fair and Campus Pantry

Come to the Medway Welcome Fair to meet with societies, sports and groups that you might want to join.

Forgotten some key items? The Campus Pantry is open for you to collect items that previous students have donated, such as beddings, books and pans.

Thursday: Canterbury Welcome Fair and Medway Picnic and Pets

The Welcome Fair is the biggest and best opportunity to meet all our amazing student groups and grab some freebies! Have a walk around all our stalls and discover which activities and sports you can take part in throughout the year.

Want to meet some cute and fluffy animals? Maybe a few with scales too!? Join us for the Picnic and Pets at the Student Hub, Medway.

Enjoy running? Join this 5k your way around campus and whilst our colour stations throw the rainbow at you as you pass by at the Colour Run.

Friday: Canterbury Welcome Fair (continued), Sports Day and Diamond Garden Planting

The Canterbury Welcome Fair continues today. Come along to meet student groups and societies and discover new activities.

At Medway you can take part in the Sports Day between Kent, Greenwich and Christ Church. The mini games are open to all and will suit a range of abilities.

The University of Kent celebrates its 60th birthday in 2025 and if you’re about to start a three-year course, you’ll be graduating in what will be a very special year – our Diamond Anniversary. Join us for the ceremonial planting of fruit trees, with live music and a picnic to mark the occasion.
