The money comes from\u00a0the Economic and Social Research Council, the most highly-resp<\/p>\n<p>ected funding body for social science in the UK.\u00a0The objectives of the series are to:<\/p>\n<ul type=\"square\">\n<li>Identify contemporary and future issues for carers in the UK<\/li>\n<li>Review existing research evidence about the effectiveness of policy and health and social care interventions for carers and those they support<\/li>\n<li>Establish a future agenda for research around services that meet the needs of carers and improve their quality of life<\/li>\n<li>Explore key theoretical, conceptual and methodological challenges facing the carer research community<\/li>\n<li>Encourage academic, third sector, practitioner and policy debate on effective carer research<\/li>\n<li>Establish a carers research network<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p lang=\"en-US\">Presenters and participants are drawn from a range of backgrounds and disciplines including academic researchers, early career researchers, carers, service users, voluntary organisations, representatives from government departments, and postgraduate students.<\/p>\n<p lang=\"en-US\">The seminars will be held in four universities across the UK. Key themes and dates are: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dmu.ac.uk\/research\/research-faculties-and-institutes\/health-and-life-sciences\/participation--social-justice\/events\/2012\/carers-and-policy-in-the-21st-century-developing-the-evidence-base-seminar.aspx\">Carers and Policy in the 21st Century<\/a> (8th October); <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dmu.ac.uk\/research\/research-faculties-and-institutes\/health-and-life-sciences\/participation--social-justice\/events\/2012\/policy-in-practice-seminar.aspx\">Policy in Practice<\/a> (11th Feb 13); <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dmu.ac.uk\/research\/research-faculties-and-institutes\/health-and-life-sciences\/participation--social-justice\/events\/2012\/individual-carer,-personalised-needs-seminar.aspx\">Individual Carers, Personalised Needs<\/a> (3rd June 13); &amp; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dmu.ac.uk\/research\/research-faculties-and-institutes\/health-and-life-sciences\/participation--social-justice\/events\/2012\/effective-support-for-carers-seminar.aspx\">Effective Support For Carers<\/a>(9th Sept 13).
