Professor Julia Twigg’s research explores the role of dress and identity in the context of aging. Julia’s research\u00a0has involved\u00a0studying women over 55 years old and the way they relate to fashion – and the fashion industry relates to them, as well as those with dementia.<\/p>\n
Speaking to Elder, a care organisation, Julia discusses her work and her latest research looking at\u00a0whether the relationship between aging and dress is similarly experienced by men. Julia comments:<\/p>\n
“Clothes are part of how we \u2018perform\u2019 our identity, and we\u2019re so used to it that we don\u2019t even notice sometimes and include profound things like gender \u2013 clothes are incredibly gender-driven, even those that purport to be ‘unisex'”<\/p>\n
