{"id":3646,"date":"2017-09-12T13:33:32","date_gmt":"2017-09-12T12:33:32","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/sspssr-news-events\/?p=3646"},"modified":"2019-05-21T14:13:45","modified_gmt":"2019-05-21T13:13:45","slug":"kent-supports-people-matter-an-international-conference","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/sspssr-news-events\/2017\/09\/12\/kent-supports-people-matter-an-international-conference\/","title":{"rendered":"Kent supports &#8216;People Matter&#8217;, an international conference"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\" target=\"_blank\">University of Kent<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/voxukraine.org\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\">VoxUkraine<\/a> and the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.berkeley.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\">University of California Berkeley<\/a> are supporting the international conference &#8216;People Matter: Quality of Life and Wellbeing in Post-Transition Economics&#8217; as part of Ukraine Economy Week organized by the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kse.org.ua\/en\/about\/kse-at-glance\/\" target=\"_blank\">Kyiv School of Economics<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.acesecon.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">Association of Comparative Economic Studies<\/a>\u00a0and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hhs.se\/en\/Research\/Institutes\/site\/\" target=\"_blank\">Stockholm Institute for Transition Economics<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Taking place 14-15 September in Kyev, Ukraine the conference will look at the quality of life and population well-being in post-transition economies. Bringing together researchers, policy-makers and top government officials, the conference programme will disseminate and discuss findings from recent studies on various aspects of population wellbeing (work, family, migration, etc.) and will provide an opportunity for extended dialogue on ongoing top-priority reforms affecting wellbeing. The conference will contribute to the promotion of the use of evidence-based decision making and formation of the future policy-relevant research agenda.<\/p>\n<p>Conference Chair, Dr Olena Nizalova (Senior Lecturer in Econometrics at the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.kse.org.ua\/en\/about\/KSE-team\/faculty\/?profileid=9\" target=\"_blank\">Kyiv School of Economics<\/a> and\u00a0joint Senior Research Fellow at the University of Kent&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/pssru\" target=\"_blank\">Personal Social Services Research Unit<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/chss\" target=\"_blank\">Centre for Health Services Research)<\/a>\u00a0says of the conference:<\/p>\n<p><em>&#8220;This is an amazing opportunity for all involved or interested in the many issues surrounding well-being and quality of life to share research findings and best practice. Over the course of two days we have the unique opportunity to explore ways to change our approaches and to improve outcomes for individuals and families.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The keynote address will be provided by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.merit.unu.edu\/about-us\/profile\/?staff_id=2357\" target=\"_blank\">Professor Klaus F Zimmerman<\/a>, leading scholar and prominent policy authority in labour economics, population economics and migration.
