Join Professor Julia Twigg as she takes part in the lively, informative and thought-provoking \u2018Older Women Rock\u2019 Discussion Day at Folkestone\u2019s Quarterhouse.<\/p>\n
The brainchild of spoken word poet and former artist in residence at the University of Kent Leah Thorn, \u2018Older Women Rock\u2019 is a movement to explore and share experiences of aging as a woman.<\/p>\n
Author of \u2018Fashion and Age: Dress, the Body and Later Life\u2019, Julia is taking part in the project\u2019s \u2018Discussion Day\u2019 on Saturday at 15.30, examining the changing relationship women have with clothes and fashion as they age. Julia will also introduce a panel of women who will share their own clothing choices giving a unique \u2013 and sometimes colourful – insight into their feminist journey, exploring freedom of expression versus constraints through their life-course.<\/p>\n

Her research focuses on embodiment and age and is concerned with the ways in which dress and age intersect and the role of clothing in the expression of social identity.
