{"id":3053,"date":"2016-11-14T11:05:10","date_gmt":"2016-11-14T11:05:10","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/sspssr-news-events\/?p=3053"},"modified":"2021-04-10T12:27:33","modified_gmt":"2021-04-10T11:27:33","slug":"philanthropy-expert-gives-evidence-to-charity-select-committee","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/sspssr-news-events\/2016\/11\/14\/philanthropy-expert-gives-evidence-to-charity-select-committee\/","title":{"rendered":"Philanthropy expert gives evidence to charity select committee"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/sspssr\/staff\/academic\/a-b\/breeze-beth.html\">Dr Beth Breeze<\/a>, Director of the Centre for Philanthropy, will appear before the House of Lords charity select committee tomorrow to give evidence on the role of donors in the charity sector.<\/p>\n<p>The House of Lords appointed a Select Committee on Charities to consider issues related to sustaining the charity sector and the challenges of charity governance in May this year.<\/p>\n<p>Dr Breeze\u2019s knowledge is valuable to the Committee. Her core research interests are major donors and major donor fundraisers. She has researched and written the annual \u2018Million Pound Donor Report\u2019 since 2008 and is the author of \u2018Richer Lives: why rich people give\u2019, \u2018The Logic of Charity: Great Expectation in Hard Times\u2019 and \u2018The Philanthropy Reader\u2019.
