{"id":2738,"date":"2016-01-21T13:42:59","date_gmt":"2016-01-21T13:42:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/sspssr-news-events\/?p=2738"},"modified":"2019-05-21T14:17:43","modified_gmt":"2019-05-21T13:17:43","slug":"postgraduate-loans-for-uk-students","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/sspssr-news-events\/2016\/01\/21\/postgraduate-loans-for-uk-students\/","title":{"rendered":"Postgraduate loans for UK students"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The UK government has announced new plans to support UK students studying for a postgraduate taught or postgraduate research degree for the 2016 2017 academic year.<\/p>\n<p>These loans will provide up to \u00a310,000 a year for taught and research Master\u2019s courses.<\/p>\n<p>Master&#8217;s degrees in all disciplines and subject areas will be covered by the new postgraduate loan scheme and will be available for all full-time and part time programmes.<\/p>\n<p>The new postgraduate Master&#8217;s loans are subject to eligibility criteria based on age, nationality and residency. The main requirements are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>You must be under 60 years of age when you begin your postgraduate course.<\/li>\n<li>You must be studying at a university with degree awarding powers in the UK. This includes institutions in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland as well as those in England.<\/li>\n<li>You must be resident in England prior to the beginning of your course.
