Through the publication, Dr Miller investigates the ethical challenges that confront our increasingly digital culture and suggests a number of revisions to our ethical, legal and technological regimes, including changing our \u2018dehumanising\u2019 social media software, expanding the notion of our \u2018selves\u2019 or \u2018bodies\u2019 to include our digital traces, and to re-introduce \u2018time\u2019 into social media through the creation of \u2018expiry dates\u2019 on social media communications.<\/p>\n<p>The Crisis of Presence in Contemporary Culture is available from <a href=\"https:\/\/uk.sagepub.com\/en-gb\/eur\/the-crisis-of-presence-in-contemporary-culture\/book244328#reviews\">Sage Publications<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/sspssr\/staff\/academic\/l-m\/miller-vince.html\">Dr Vince Miller<\/a> is Senior Lecturer in Sociology at the School of Social Policy, Sociology and Social Research.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Dr Vince Miller\u2019s new book The Crisis of Presence in Contemporary Culture is now available in both hard copy and electronic versions.
