{"id":2689,"date":"2015-10-01T13:47:16","date_gmt":"2015-10-01T12:47:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/sspssr-news-events\/?p=2689"},"modified":"2019-05-21T14:17:43","modified_gmt":"2019-05-21T13:17:43","slug":"kent-in-top-tier-of-universities-worldwide","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/sspssr-news-events\/2015\/10\/01\/kent-in-top-tier-of-universities-worldwide\/","title":{"rendered":"Kent in top tier of Universities worldwide"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Strong international outlook and research citations have positioned the University at the &#8216;forefront of global higher education excellence.\u2019<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In the latest <a href=\"https:\/\/www.timeshighereducation.com\/news\/world-university-rankings-2015-2016-results-announced\"><em><span style=\"color: #0066cc\">Times Higher Education<\/span><\/em> (THE) World University Rankings <i class=\"fa fa-external-link\"><\/i><\/a>, published on 1 October, Kent is in the top 10% of the world\u2019s leading universities for international outlook.<\/p>\n<div class=\"story_body\">\n<p>Of the 1126 eligible universities analysed by the THE, Kent also features among the top 30% overall.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier this year, Kent featured in the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/news\/kentlife\/7044\/kent-among-worlds-best-universities\">QS top 100 universities worldwide<\/a> for international students and staff, placing it in the top 10% of all those evaluated.<\/p>\n<p>Kent\u2019s performance in <em>THE<\/em> World University Rankings 2015-16 was described by the tables\u2019 editor Phil Baty as an <em>\u2018outstanding achievement\u2019<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>In September, the University was <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/news\/kentlife\/6871\/kent-shortlisted-for-university-of-the-year-in-the-awards-2015\">shortlisted by the THE<\/a> for its University of the Year Award 2015 (winners announced 26 November). It was also shortlisted for a University of the Year Award in the <em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/news\/kentlife\/7086\/double-success-in-times-and-sunday-times-good-university-guide\">Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide 2015-16<\/a>, <\/em>where it was ranked 23rd in the UK.<\/p>\n<p>Kent also achieved its highest ever league table position in September, with its <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/news\/kentlife\/5556\/kent-rises-to-16th-in-guardian-guide-2016\">rise to 16th in the <em><span style=\"color: #0066cc\">Guardian University Guide<\/span><\/em> 2015<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In response to the THE Rankings, Vice-Chancellor Professor Dame Julia Goodfellow said: \u2018This welcome announcement reflects Kent\u2019s growing international reputation and profile.
