{"id":2203,"date":"2014-10-30T09:17:16","date_gmt":"2014-10-30T09:17:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/sspssr-news-events\/?p=2203"},"modified":"2019-05-21T14:14:56","modified_gmt":"2019-05-21T13:14:56","slug":"children-in-care-council-members-teach-social-work-students","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/sspssr-news-events\/2014\/10\/30\/children-in-care-council-members-teach-social-work-students\/","title":{"rendered":"Children in Care Council members teach Social Work students"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><span style=\"color: #003366\">Three Children in Care Council (CiCC) members attended The University of Kent\u00a0on 23 October 2014\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"color: #003366\">to teach 3<\/span><sup><span style=\"color: #003366;font-size: small\">rd<\/span><\/sup><span style=\"color: #003366\"> Year Social Work students.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The CiCC members kicked the session off with a presentation of their short film \u2018Tackling Stigma\u2019 followed by an exercise based on the CiCC Top 10 Qualities poster.<\/p>\n<p>The students were very keen to hear about Tiff, Paddy and Daniel\u2019s experiences of being looked after by Medway, particularly relating to their relationships with their social workers.<\/p>\n<p>Professor of Social Gerontology and Social Work, Dr Alison Milne, said,<em><strong><span style=\"color: #008080\"> \u201c<\/span><\/strong><\/em><em><strong><em><span style=\"color: #008080\">Th<\/span><\/em><span style=\"color: #008080\">ank you very much for coming along today and speaking so helpfully and clearly to our BA Social Work students. We all found it a powerful and informative session.
