Two students who successfully completed their PhD studies with the School of Social Policy, Sociology and Social Research at the University of Kent have gone on to careers in the world of academia.<\/p>\n
Fahid Qurashi, who completed his PhD in Sociology at Kent in 2012, has recently taken up a Lectureship in Criminology at Canterbury Christchurch University.<\/p>\n
Leo McCann, who studied for a PhD in Sociology at Kent from 1998 to 2001, joined Manchester Business School in 2004.\u00a0 He has just been appointed to a Chair in MBS.\u00a0\u00a0 Leo said \u201cI thoroughly enjoyed my time as a PhD student at Kent. There was always a very strong research culture around the department. The empirical focus of the staff and students was very diverse, and I learnt a great deal about the core purpose and value of academic inquiry, especially its theoretical and philosophical roots<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n We are always keen to keep in touch with\u00a0our alumni and offer Fahid and Leo congratulations on their new appointments.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
