Public spending in Britain, already below the level of spending in Greece, is expected on current\u00a0trends\u00a0to fall below that in the US and Spain by 2016. A recent blog post explaining some of these findings is available <a href=\"http:\/\/www.poverty.ac.uk\/articles-government-cuts-international-comparisons-public-spending-whats-new\/uk-heading-bottom-place\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Prof Taylor-Gooby explained, &#8220;The only other\u00a0developed\u00a0countries embarking on cutback programmes\u00a0on this\u00a0scale are those forced to as a condition of EU\/IMF loans.
