The landscape of youth justice is shifting rapidly with changes in both policy direction and ways of working. This conference will discuss the most recent policy developments and will give participants the chance to explore new, cost-effective ways of working to achieve the aims of youth justice.

John Drew, Chief Executive of the
Youth Justice Board, will report on the most recent policy developments in this area
Professor Rod Morgan, visiting Professor at LSE and former chair of the Youth Justice Board, will discuss how these compare to the need for developments in youth justice
Helen Goodman, MP, Shadow Minister for Youth Justice will consider the alternatives that Labour is proposing
There will also be workshops on:
- new developments in prevention.
- pre-court and court disposals: reducing the use of custody.
- looked after children and the youth justice system
- working with asylum seekers and non-UK citizens.
- payment by results
- successful reintergration from custody

The conference will be of particular interest to Youth Offending Services, youth and community services, the police, sentencers and members of referral panels, as well as voluntary organisations and community groups engaged in youth crime prevention, those responsible for the development of local youth justice policies, lawyers, social workers, researchers and students with an interest in this area.
