Students in the School of Social Policy, Sociology, and Social Research (SSPSSR) receive extensive support to develop their employability through the help of the Careers and Employability team within the Division for the Study of Law, Society, and Social Justice (LSSJ).
Kent Career Mentoring is a career mentoring programme that pairs Kent alumni with second and third year undergraduates, and postgraduate students, to help them gain an insight into professional life.
Mentors help students to develop their knowledge and professional skills, which ensures that students begin their journey into the professional world with a solid foundation of knowledge.
Students have a least one meeting per month with their mentor, with mentors and mentees matched by their expressed preferences and sectors of interest.

Through the extensive programme of employability support provided in LSSJ, students gain careers insights from guest speakers including alumni and local employers. Students can also access work experience and volunteering opportunities.
The central Careers and Employability Service further strengthen this programme by providing advice, workshops and tools to prepare Kent students and graduates for successful future employment.
