Balihar Sanghera is a Director of the Kyrgyz-British Society, which is organising a roundtable on Osh and the Internation
al Community at the Institute of Archaeology, London. The event will examine how the international community has responded to the ethnic violence, humanitarian crisis and re-construction needs in Osh, the second largest city in Southern Kyrgyzstan. The roundtable will consist of leading experts and a live video conference link with an audience at the American University – Central Asia, Bishkek. The experts will discuss how international donors and agencies failed to adequately deal with the crisis last year, creating additional ethnic tensions through humanitarian assistance and framing the Central Asian region in terms of security and danger discourse.
