Dr Eleanor Jupp, Lecturer in Social Policy within the School of Social Policy, Sociology and Social Research, is one of the editors of the newly published book ‘Emotional States: Sites and spaces of affective governance’.
This edited collection brings recent academic interest in emotions within human geography and sociology into dialogue with contemporary issues of politics, governance and the development and implementation of social policy. The book makes the case for a new focus on emotions in understanding not only politics and policy strategy, but also implementation and service delivery, citizenship and participation.
Chapters focus on the emotional dimensions of a range of topics including austerity, co-production and behaviour change, as well as of policy fields including housing, education, family and youth policy, immigration and urban development. This interdisciplinary collection includes contributions from social policy, geography, education, public administration, and sociology and features both established and emerging scholars.
