Organised jointly by Dr David Garbin, School of Social Policy, Sociology and Social Research (SSPSSR) and Dr Anna Strhan, Department for Religious Studies, this symposium will explore how religion shapes urban landscapes in an age of globalisation. The speakers, drawn from UK and overseas universities, will share their research during four sessions: ‘Power, visibility and the politics of space’, ‘Centralities, peripheries and religious reterritorialization’, ‘Religious media, publics and global cultural flows’ and ‘Global migration, everyday multiculturalism and religious placemaking’. Following the presentations there will be time for questions and discussion.
