The University of Kent’s Q-Step Centre is hosting an event for teachers on Tuesday 10 March where guest speaker Anthony Tomei will share his experience in developing the new Core Maths support programme.
The programme will have ramifications and impact on both secondary and higher education institutions. Anthony Tomei, the former Director and one of the founders of the Nuffield Foundation will start the evening with a talk focusing on the background and remit of the new Core Maths and its implications. The second part on the evening will focus on discussions and group work on emerging themes around how we can solve issues related to core maths.
Attendees will include teachers from a range of disciplines covering secondary education, FE colleges and University academics, which means this is a fantastic opportunity to a broad discussion and networking.
Anthony Tomei was a Director of the Nuffield Foundation twenty years, and is now a visiting Professor at King’s College London where he is involved in research to inform the development of the new post 16 mathematics strategy. He is currently part of the the Advisory Committee for the Core Maths Support Programme.
The evening is free to attend and will run from 6pm to 7.30pm in the Darwin Board Room – please arrive anytime from 5.30pm for registration and light refreshments.
